UCSD@50: The Celebration Continues

UC San Diego’s 50th anniversary celebration is officially underway, so it’s time for the November edition of UCSD@50, our year-long series highlighting the people and projects that make this institution great.

Premiering November 1 at 8pm on TV and online (and re-airing throughout the month), this installment is hosted by Dr. David Granet and features Arts and Humanities Dean Seth Lerer, campus architect Boone Hellman and author Dirk Sutrow as they explore UCSD’s built environment.

The program also includes research on fighting antibiotic resistant “superbugs” at the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences; a profile of “Inception” and “Avatar” actor and UCSD alumnus Dileep Rao; a wrap-up of the “Meet the Beach” Volunteer 50 clean-up event; and a chat with UCSD staffer Darren McKay, a junior development engineer at UCSD’s Englekirk Structural Engineering Center.

We’re also kicking off UCSD By Design, an anniversary-related speaker series about the history and future development of UCSD’s built environment.
