“Liszt Birthplace in Raiding” is a drawing of the small cottage where Franz Liszt was born. Raiding is a provincial village in the contested region of Burgenland. At the time of Liszt’s birth, it was in the Hungarian sector; today, Burgenland is a province of Austria.

The Altenburg is the home where Liszt and Princess Carolyen von sayn-Wittgenstein lived during the Weimar period, 1848-1861.

Liszt in 1886 is one of the last photographs of Franz Liszt taken just two months before his death on July 31, 1886.

Abbé Liszt is a photo of the composer taken in 1883.

The Funeral Cortège was taken on the day of the funeral of Franz Liszt in Bayreuth, Germany. He was buried in the local City Cemetery.

Lisztomania 1 is one of the many caricatures of the piano virtuoso. This one shows a gaggle of excited women trying to capture an article of Liszt’s clothing; several men are seen below gesturing in disgust.

Lisztomania 2 is another caricature of Franz Liszt dazzling an audience with a performance during the “Glanzzeit” years.

TCOYD’s resident nutrition expert Janice Baker has a helpful tip for eating smart and taking control of your diabetes – and your diet!

Another “under the radar” but very significant reason for problems with blood sugar and weight control is disrupted sleep. Whatever the reason may be – sleep apnea, snoring, too much late night computer or tv viewing – we know that getting at least 7 hours of good quality sleep per night is an essential part of weight and diabetes control. Be sure to bring up any sleep issues at your doctor visits. If your spouse or other family member tells you that you snore loudly, it’s time to be screened for obstructive sleep apnea – a serious health issue.
