Screening for Colon Cancer

Screening for colorectal cancer saves lives.

Colorectal cancer (cancer of the colon or rectum) is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. Every year, more than 140,000 Americans are diagnosed with colorectal cancer, and more than 50,000 people die from it.

In the latest edition of UCSD-TV’s Health Matters, premiering October 18 at 8pm and online now, host David Granet welcomes gastroenterologist Dr. Tom Savides, UC San Diego Professor of Clinical Medicine, to discuss when to begin screening, the various tests available, and what to expect.
