Academic Medicine in Action

We often hear terms like “academic medicine” and “bench to bedside,” but what do they actually mean in terms of patient care? This month, Dr. David Brenner, Dean of UC San Diego School of Medicine, visits “Health Matters” to help us understand the concept and value of academic medicine, and how it enhances our community. And tune in for two new UCSD-TV health programs that show academic medicine in action.

From Peace Talks to Gender Justice

Monica McWilliams, the Chief Commissioner of the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission and a signer of the historic 1998 Good Friday Agreement with Ireland, addresses the challenges of turning the promise of peace accords into stable post-conflict societies through the inclusion of women in political and civil leadership. McWilliams is presented as part of the 2010 Women’s Peacemakers Conference hosted by the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice at the University of San Diego.
